Raising Boys to be Men: Indonesian Muslim Single Mothers’ Perspective

Due to the pressure of society on boys as future heads households, in addition trend masculinity crisis and male underachievement education, single parents bear massive burden parenting, educating nurturing without presence their fathers. Single mothers must prepare specific strategies fulfil boys’ need for a father figure. This study aims provide an overview mothers' parenting sons. uses qualitative method. The phenomenological approach is used this study. Researchers purposive sampling selecting informants, 5 informants were mothers, 3 due death husbands, 2 divorce. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews documentation techniques. analysis NVivo software. findings imply that build character boys, apart from religious education leadership, it necessary teach responsibility train entrepreneurship skills so they can stand own.
